Study of Fruit Fly Leads to Discovery of Eight New Wound-Healing Genes

Analyzing the laboratory fruit fly Drosophila, a team of biologists at UC San Diego have identified eight new genes that were found to play a role in would healing, a new study published in the journal PLOS ONE reveals. But the biologists say many of the same genes that regulate biological processes in the hard exoskeleton, or cuticle, of iDrosophila/i also control processes in human skin.
