Protein Misfolding Linked With ALS

A joint study conducted by researchers from the US and Australia has identified an unusual amino acid called BMAA which can be inserted into neuroproteins, which leads them to misfold and aggregate, a characteristic seen in brain diseases such as ALS and Alzheimer's.
