Benefit from Avastin in Bowel Cancer Could be Predicted by Protein Levels

Until now there has been no way of predicting the benefit of Avastin, or Bevacizumab, in bowel cancer although it has been shown to increase survival in around ten to 15 per cent of patients with the condition. Avastin works by targeting and blocking the VEGF-A protein, two major forms of which are VEGF165 and VEGF165b.
