Greater Risk of Death Linked to Distance from Designated VA Liver Transplant Centre: Penn Study

Veterans with liver disease and need transplantation, but live more than 100 miles from a VA hospital offering the transplant, are half as likely to be placed on the waitlist to receive a new organ compared to veterans who live closer to transplant centers, as found in a new study from the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania.
