Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has undergone a surgery to remove her healthy fallopian tubes and ovaries. The actress is reportedly a carrier of the inheritable BRCA1 gene (BRCA stands for BReast CAncer susceptibility). Carriers of this gene have an elevated risk of breast and ovarian cancer; and a preemptive surgery effectively slashes the cancer odds for women like Angelina Jolie.
