Australian scientists are much closer to developing a screening test for the early detection of Alzheimer's disease, the leading cause of dementia. A quarter of a million Australians currently suffer from dementia and given our ageing population, this is predicted to increase to one million by 2050.   1. I think that earlier detection of Alzheimer's Disease will be of great benefit to the aging population.Not only will early treatment help slow down the illness, but a lot can be learned about prevention. I am very pleased to hear about any kind of research being done in this needed area.
